Hina and Nimesh’s wedding day

Getting ready

The day started with Hina getting ready in a pink and cream lehenga, and Nimesh getting ready with his family. Before the ceremony we took portraits of the couple and Hina’s friends in blue and pink lehengas.

The baraat

Nimesh arrived in a red safa riding a white carriage, with family and friends dancing around him. The bride’s family welcomed him with aarti.

The ceremony

The Hindu ceremony took place in a room lit in purple, under a mandap with white drapery, surrounded by both families.

The vidaai

The day ended with an emotional vidaai, as Hina said goodbye to her family before leaving with Nimesh.

Space

Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel is in Schaumburg, a northwest suburb of Chicago. According to Marriott, it has about 160,000 square feet of event space, including a 28,000-square-foot ballroom, so you can hold the baraat, ceremony and reception in one place.

Lighting

Uplighting changes the look of a hotel ballroom completely. Hina and Nimesh used purple uplighting for the ceremony and reception.

Plan for the weather

Chicago weather can change fast. If you want an outdoor baraat, have a covered or indoor backup route.
