Maureen’s Wedding Story
Our friends and family come from far and wide over the US and the world, so we decided on a destination wedding in Mexico, so that everyone could spend time together for various days.
We are an interesting San Francisco couple both working in the technology sector, one in a start-up and the other as a physical therapist. We love staying active in the city and enjoying all our favorite food spots! Both of us love traveling to new locales and taking in the local sites and food as well.
How did we fall in love? He says: Maureen and Thianh first met in sunny Australia. In the following years, she moved to Boston and fell madly in love with him. She later made it her mission to marry him. He tried to resist, but she was too cute. Happily ever after.
She says: Maureen and Thianh met 11 years ago while in school in sunny Australia. He made her laugh…a lot, and she got him seconds from the cafeteria. A friendship was born and through years of phone calls, emails, letters, and visits all across the United States over 4 years, the friendship blossomed into much more when they were finally together again in Boston.
The day was beautiful and bright. The ceremony and celebration were a great way to end the week in Mexico!
All the guests had been sunbathing, relaxing, enjoying excursions, and getting to know each other the days before the wedding so that by the time Saturday rolled around, it was all about having fun!
We exchanged our vows on the beach by the ocean and chose our date based on the fullness of the moon. In the Bride’s Cuban tradition, a full moon is good luck for a full marriage, so we celebrated into the night under a bright, and full moon.
We also used Vietnamese hand made silk lanterns in lieu of bouquets for the bridesmaids to honor the moon and the Groom’s heritage. It was so special to have the ones nearest and dearest to us celebrate in Mexico and really spend time together.
Even though the landscape alone was gorgeous, we wanted to capture our personalities in our handmade decor that we brought from San Francisco to the resort to make it more special.
She says: Now they are 7 years in love and happily living together in San Francisco. By the way…. they are still best friends and he still makes her laugh everyday…a lot.
