Hindu Temple of Southwest Florida

Story of the Hindu Temple of Ft Myers:

In 1990, a group of Hindu people started gathering with prayers organizing small meetings in individual’s homes. They had always dreamed of having their own temple one day. As the community developed, funds were raised for the purchase of land. Land was finally purchased in 2004 and the group gathered on the land to pray in an outdoor Temple.

In 2008, enough funds were raised to begin construction of large Hindu temple. The ground breaking ceremony took place in January 2008, an unusually chilly day for southern Florida.

It was decided to install 3 deities : Shiva Parivar, Ganesh and Sri Krishna. Expert Shilpis in India worked on each section of the granite mandaps designed by Padmashree Muthia Stapathi for the deities. The mandaps were then assembled on site. After a 3 year wait the 8,500 sq ft Temple building was finally completed and Pranapratishta / Kumbhaabhishekam took place on 11 June 2011.
